Omg! I discovered something truly magnificently awesome which me made me more proud to be PINOY!!!
I can’t believe that I didn’t even know this existed. It’s so unfortunate… but! I discovered it over the internet this last holiday of school while I was learning japanese katakana and hiragana.
And guess what, I accidentally found it
GLad that accident was awesome!
Anyways, back to the topic…
what I have discovered is the
Ancient Philippine Script called Baybayin!!! also known as Alibata.
This script is very ancient that it was used before the spaniards came to the Philippines. During that time, Baybayin was used everywhere (or so I read) during the 16th century (or sometime along those lines) but then it got extinct when the spaniards came on the 17th century. The theory of why this happened is that some Spaniard priests wanted to teach the people in the Philippines the bible (or something) but then, they teached filipinos their alphabets because it is much easier. And the filipinos find it easy too, maybe that is why they used it and passed it to the next generation instead of Baybayin…but this is just a theory I read on an article
GRRR enough of those LOL I’m so excited to show you what my ancestors writing were so here it is (it is an image because some people use different browsers and the script doesn’t work on other browsers other than firefox)
OMG! Isn’t that pretty
I really love it!!! I’m so happy I discovered it!!!
I studied this writing during my school holidays so I am now able to read and write this script! How awesome!!!
Here’s a picture that I created because it was awesome
LOL
I know you can’t read the writing so I’ll say it to you LOL ![]()
What’s written above with the small letters is my real name (which I can’t say LOL sorry) and the one which is the center of the picture says Tsokolate which translates to Chocolate in English
LOL
I hope that all Filipinos out there would appreciate this writing and would want to learn this writing… because this is our history heheh
A filipino proverb:
“Ang hindi marunong tumingin/lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay di makakarating sa paroroonan”. “He who does not know to look where he came from will never get to his destination”
The point is… we should look back to where we came from
which is in short, our history ![]()
(I’ll probably write a blog that the writing is only Baybayin… SO FUN!!!!)
Here’s some writing in Baybayin script (only seen in the latest FIrefox browsers)
