I’ve been writing with my non dominant hand (left hand) for a year and I’ve been practicing when writing notes at school as well. Let’s see how much I improved (or if I did actually improve in anyway LOL)
Here’s a photograph of my writing in:
January 2010
My handwriting was so crappy ahahahah LOL
and in:
January 2011
So do you think I improved?
I think I improved a little
I’m so proud of myself for sticking to this for a year! I can now write with BOTH of my hands! YEAH!
All it took is practice and effort. That’s it
Well… hope this motivated you to write with your non dominant hand! Hope that I still improve
January 2012
I would say… I got worse ahaha LOL. But I finally learned how to write in a cursive way LOL!
I’ll keep practicing still LOL

Wow! Ang galing! I actually only started to write with my left hand last December. Siguro gaganda rin yung gawa ko? Hahaha.
Btw, I’ve moved my blog to the main address. My old entries were lost, I am still trying to figure out how to “manually” fix it via mysql but perhaps I may choose to write new entries when I really get tired. LOL.
Glad to be back blogging!
Aww that’s sad to hear. But I’m happy that you’re still happy to continue blogging!
Go you!
Can I see your left handwriting now? I really want to know how it looks like!
And thanks for putting my blog in your blogroll. Now, I will do the same!!! YEY
Thanks
Lol I know how it feels I started doing it to because my hands hurt too much to write with x.x so I learn left it hasn’t been a year for me yet maybe 10 months and I see my progress and I’m like “how in the world was I so sloppy?” lol I kinda feel sorry for my teachers who had to grade it last year these teachers have it easy, and the weirdest thing is, I dont feel comfortable writing with my right hand anymore it’s weird o.o I don’t even pick up stuff that way anymore
Woah that’s awesome
Same here!! When I start writing with my right hand.. it’s like weird.. I can still write good.. but not for very long compared to my left now ^_^
I guess I need to balance it LOL
Good for us ahaaha
Whoa! Me too! I used to eat with my right hand and brush my teeth, etc. and other daily things but when I tried all that with my left, I found it more comfortable and now I’m used to it.
So when I try to use my right for these tasks now, it feels strange! But I’m aiming to be ambidextrous, so I have to balance this out and use both!
To think that alot of people on the internet are like “You can only be born ambidextrous” or you can’t “Change your dominant side” but we just did! It goes to show what the human mind is capable of when we set our mind to it!
Yeah totally!!!
We should be proud of ourselves! LOL
I’m aiming to be ambidextrous too
It’s quite fun to see people’s reaction when they learn that I can write properly with both hands
It’s very convenient to be ambidextrous
A lot of advantages
Does your left hand writing look at all like your right? Also, did you do this everyday?
I’m currently learning to do it- I have been doing so for 46 days- and my writing has improve so much- I can write pretty legibly if I write slow enough, and my fastest speed is nearly half of my right hand normal speed! But it’s not so legible- I’m working on it, though!
This post really motivated me to continue. Thanks for posting! It’s very interesting!
Compared to my right hand writing, my left hand has a different style however, they are both readable and pretty decent.
I’ve been writing for more than a year now and I would say that I can write as fast as my right hand
And I’m glad that this motivated you! You’re very welcome and hope to see the results after a year or so
And yes, I did write with my left hand everyday, even at school when writing notes and answering tests ^_^
Also, I’m just curious to know but do you feel like you have changed since you learned to write with your left hand? I mean, like in the way of thinking, creativity, personality? I’m just curious to know if we use our opposite hemisphere more and “Activate” it maybe we start thinking differently too.
I noticed that when I draw using my left hand, I become more creative and more patient at drawing at something compared to my right hand, which I’m always impatient with drawing with.
so I definitely noticed something different
How are you doing with writing with your non dominant hand?
Interesting- me too! I was drawing in class today (Lol) with my left hand and I was drawing all kinds of things like trees and forests and other random things- and I noticed the way I drew them, the detail etc was so different than how I would approach it with my right hand- I can’t do it the same with my right! I feel so much more creative with my left, and I LOVE it!
Since I drew a forest drawing for the first time with my left several months ago, and it was really differently and much better than my right, from then on I drew like almost always with my left!
As for my writing, I definitely notice improvement, it is getting alot better in neatness, and I can write alot longer non stop, almost 10 minutes, until my hand muscles give-out and start hurting. It is definitely legible, I think anyone could read it, but as for neatness, it is still obvious that it was written with my non-dominant hand.
Also, I don’t really get any awkwardness from writing with my left hand- in fact, besides the fact that it’s still messy, I wouldn’t mind writing with my left hand everyday from now on, which is good. I’ve also noticed I’m alot less right handed now- I’m starting to use my left alot, and I remember to do so- sometimes automatically! I don’t even realise I’m using my left anymore!
I still have a while to go though- but I’m not giving up! Thanks to your posts I’m motivated to continue!
That’s awesome!
A lot of similarities here too!!
And I’m glad I could motivate you hahah
Hey I used to be right handed, but three years ago I decided to start writing with my left hand. I kept at it and didn’t give up. Now I do everything left handed and can’t write with my right hand anymore. Using anything with my right hand now feels very strange and unnatural. Now I’m training myself to write right-handed again, and it’s just as hard as it was for me to begin writing with my left its so weird
Wow.. That’s awesome
But that’s awesome anyways!!! ^_^
However, you should have kept it balanced so that you don’t have to practice with your right hand again
